Aurobay’s astonishing fuel efficiency
Volvo’s V60, powered by Aurobay’s Gen 3 LP Miller engine, achieved a fuel efficiency rate of 6.3-6.9 litres per 100 kilometres, astonishing independent testers.
When veteran car tester Ruben Börjesson of Swedish motoring magazine Teknikens Värld took the V60 mild hybrid out onto the track, he couldn’t believe his instruments. The car achieved average fuel efficiency of 6.9 litres per 100 km over the 300 km test.
Börjesson was so surprised that he ran the test again. And this time the V60 went 0.6 litres better, achieving an average fuel efficiency of 6.3 litres per 100 km.
The V60 in the test was powered by Aurobay’s newest powertrain, the Gen 3 LP Miller engine, and also features the new gearbox, which will have contributed to the excellent fuel efficiency. In a paper delivered at the Aachen Colloquium on Sustainable Mobility in November 2020*, we demonstrated that the Gen 3 LP Miller engine itself is up to 10% more fuel-efficient than the previous engine generation.
Michael Fleiss, Chief Executive said, ‘At Aurobay, we believe that hybrid engines will play a vital role in the transition towards net zero. We are delighted to see the Gen 3 LP Miller perform so well in an independent test as we continue our journey of re-imagining motion.’
