Zhangjiakou plant joins Aurobay

Following government approvals, the Zhangjiakou powertrain plant joins Aurobay on 1 February 2022.

The addition of the Zhangjiakou plant, formerly part of Volvo Cars, means that Aurobay is now a global business with a footprint in both Sweden and China. With a combined size of 2,900 employees and production of 750,000 ICE, hybrid and electric units last year, Aurobay represents a significant force in the powertrain industry.

Over many years, the businesses now known as Aurobay have worked together to push the boundaries of productivity and quality. Aurobay’s position enables it to further innovate and harness economies of scale along the entire value chain – from procurement, research and development to production and aftermarket.

With an operational and industrial footprint on two continents, Aurobay can partner with OEMs both inside and outside the Geely group, and customers in adjacent industries.

Michael Fleiss, Deputy CEO of Aurobay and CEO of Powertrain Engineering Sweden AB, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome the Zhangjiakou plant to the Aurobay family. Together we will work to deliver our vision of reimagining motion for a brighter tomorrow – collaborating to produce internal combustion engines, e-Drives and hybrids that lead the way toward propulsion with a carbon neutral footprint.’
