Building the Aurobay of tomorrow

Through powering sustainable mobility, Aurobay will make a vital contribution to helping the world achieve its climate targets. CEO Michael Fleiss explains how the business is building a strong, positive culture to drive its ambitions forward.

‘The world is facing a climate crisis,’ says Michael Fleiss. ‘As powertrain experts, we can be part of the problem, or we can be part of the solution. At Aurobay, we believe we have a responsibility to make mobility as sustainable as possible, as quickly as possible.’

Aurobay’s commitment to sustainability is set out in its vision of re-imagining motion for a brighter tomorrow. ‘It’s an ambitious vision, which we’re passionate about,’ says Michael. ‘We are assembling former Volvo Cars and Geely employees together with brand new people to help us achieve it. And to succeed, we need a strong, positive culture.’

Three core values underpin Aurobay’s culture: Caring about the planet and people; Collaborating with others, and Creating excellence through innovation and continuous improvement. These were developed in consultation with colleagues, Volvo Cars’ and Geely’s heritage and in consideration of what will be required to achieve the company’s vision.

Aurobay’s people are united around its culture. ‘Caring, collaborating and creating excellence are Aurobay’s platform for re-imagining motion,’ says Michael. ‘Right now, we are working on several new ways to power sustainable mobility in the short term – like pushing our powertrains towards zero emissions, using biofuels, and transitioning to become a circular business.’

‘In the medium to long term, we will go much further. Aurobay has committed to become carbon neutral by 2040. As we move to a very different world, innovation will be the engine of our future, enabled by the strong positive culture that we’re putting in place today. Together, we will re-imagine motion for a brighter tomorrow.’
